Eco-vehicle (PIGEON) creator: first of all we should start from ourselves
Development of ecological and sustainable world we live in is one of the most important issues in nowadays life. Almost everyone talk about it but only minority takes real actions. Ignas is one of those who did. “Certainly each of us can do a number of small steps which contribute to the ecological global development”, – says Ignas, the creator of PIGEON – colorful eco-vehicle – kick scooter.
SKURA Design always emphasizes the importance of nature. What is your connection with nature?
I and my work are in a deep relationship with nature. As recently I discovered eco-vehicle and most of my time, both personal and professional, is dedicated to the challenges, market analysis and development of my product, the nature in this process occupies very significant place.
What are those small things that everyone could change in their daily lives to become more sustainable?
I strongly believe that firstly we should start from ourselves. Certainly each of us can do a number of small steps which contribute to the ecological and sustainable global development. However, I tend to see the maximum and my personal desire is to contribute to the creation of sustainable Lithuania’s identity.
Maybe anyone could say that this desire is hardly reachable or impossible because more than half of our society does not care about the future of country or even better of our land. But on the other hand, we are less than 3 million and to become united is much easier than for huge cosmopolitans. It is worth at least try to shape and educate people. We have to create a safe and attractive country for the population who live here, foreign investments and strong economy.
Do you think that this turn into sustainability and ecology is just a fashion, which flooded all and pretty soon will subside, or simply logical step of humanity?
I think, return to the sustainable and environmentally friendly world is not just a matter of fashion and trend. Facts about our planet are very clear and simple: the human population increases, the climate is changing, resources are rapidly decreasing.
So we can calculate how much the human population will rise before the end of the century. We can say how much food, water, energy our future will need. We can also calculate that very soon we will not have enough resources to feed all population. But we still do not have a plan to solve this problem.
Already Meadows, Donell H. in the book “Limits to Growth” (1972) has raised the issue: “The boundless growth in our limited planet is impossible. We not for a long will reach its limit. We have to do something”.
Thus, there is very little of trend and fashion, but if it is – it’s great. Let it be fashionable to raise this issue and try to find for hundreds of different solutions. Of course, first of all we should start from ourselves and simply sorting of garbage or use of eco-vehicle would be a great first step.
Of course not everything is relying only on us. For example, here in Lithuania many people do not sort garbage because there isn’t a comfortable infrastructure and improved, convenient, simple scenario how to sort the garbage and make the process clear in the daily routine.
But I really believe that the world has finally realized that we must to do something if we really want to leave the undamaged land for our children.
Thank you for the conversation.
